Why hello tumblr! Perhaps your assistance, please?
I’m off photographing my monster tomorrow, and some of it will be in public. I want/need to have some information I can dispense to curious parties, as well as release forms for people to sign if they end up in the background of any photos. Below is a hopefully succinct description of what I’m doing, why, and where these photos will exist.
Hello!
My name is Elija Montgomery, and I am currently completing my undergraduate thesis at OCAD University.
The working title of my thesis is I am a Monster, and explores the ways in which we can feel different and other, by looking at our relationship with people, space, and ourselves. The project involves photographing a physical monster that I have design and constructed in various environments and scenarios, often accompanied by a phrase, question, or confession.
These photographs will appear at the OCAD U Graduation Exhibition (OCAD University, 100 McCaul St, May 2nd-5th), on my personal blog (elijasaurus.tumblr.com) (and the internet in general), and with the hope of future publication and further exhibition. If you would like to read more about my work and see my process, please visit my personal blog at elijasaurus.tumblr.com
If you’d like to see this work installed, please come to the OCAD U Graduation Exhibition, at 100 McCaul Street. The opening night is Thursday, May 2nd, and runs until Sunday, May 5th.
If you’d like to contact me, please do so at either 416.797.blahor elijasaurus@gmail.comThank you,
Elija Montgomery
Am I missing anything…?
Crazy eyes in the studios, two years later.
BRB, making a Facebook Event Page.
Vacuum formed “skull” for my Memory Monster, Ro Dak. Now to add LEDs behind the eyes, put the two halves together, and make the monster around it!
But not tonight. Tonight I leave my school/house neighbourhood, and see one of my favourite people.
Ehr mer gerd, thersiss.
I was just able to register for everything. I am both nervous and excited. Um, and thinking I need to get back to researching/developing like, now.
note: this timetable is slightly incomplete - I’m hoping to add a plastics fabrication studio course in the fall semester, but need to be ‘approved.’
Great news! Next week, Thursday May 24th, is the opening of the Inclusive Research Design Centre at OCAD University. Coinciding with the building’s opening is the opening of the art exhibition, representing students’ work involving inclusive design, etc.
And I’m part of the show!
Three of my pieces are, actually (*dusts shoulders*).
The three pictured are Tactile Tendencies (October 2011), Soft Spoken (December 2010), and The Other F-word (March 2011). I am very excited and honoured to be a part of this. It will be open to the public in the afternoon, in between a few private event for different persons. Please come by if you can! Facebook event page!
Scott & Laura: ‘til death do us part
I had an amazing time this past week photographing a couple of my attractive friends, Scott and Laura (who also happen to be totally married).
We had great fun going through the bowels of OCAD (my school!) and gettin’ all creepy.
More to follow.
SUBMISSION: “TOOLS OF IMAGINATION”
That’s my school, baby. And most of my school friends are in this show.
(Only two weeks away: be there!)
