So yesterday was my birthday- I am now what you’d consider “elderly,” as I am 23.
Yesterday was brilliant.
it was also the first year that I...

Annnnnnnnd the second R is complete!
This one was first covered in hand made abaca paper; the “feathers” are ripped up hand made linen paper, adhered with gel medium (working from the bottom up).
Super delicate, super awesome. Ugh, I love paper so so much, and I am so glad I found a great use for some of the stack I have.
Also, I’d like to add that I made this while watching/listening to The Life of Birds. So good.
Getting all ready for the papermaking workshop tomorrow!
I’m going to be running a paper making workshop at XPACE, the gallery/cultural centre I work at. This is going to be part of the poster. This has been part of my job today.
(Now to finish the poster!)

A productive night.

Hand made Thank You cards!
The paper source(s), the pulp, and the result. The stamp is hand carved softoluem. I made over 100 sheets, and printed 75: all as a friend’s wedding present. Now she can thank people who came to her wedding!
(note: the cards look very dull in the photo, but I promise they’re a lovely pale mint green; a bit lighter than the pulp.)
Hopefully making more this month, to sell and such. Let me know if you’re interested!
Great news! Next week, Thursday May 24th, is the opening of the Inclusive Research Design Centre at OCAD University. Coinciding with the building’s opening is the opening of the art exhibition, representing students’ work involving inclusive design, etc.
And I’m part of the show!
Three of my pieces are, actually (*dusts shoulders*).
The three pictured are Tactile Tendencies (October 2011), Soft Spoken (December 2010), and The Other F-word (March 2011). I am very excited and honoured to be a part of this. It will be open to the public in the afternoon, in between a few private event for different persons. Please come by if you can! Facebook event page!

Over the last couple of months, artist Page Smith has been installing faux gems made from paper in the nooks and crannies of LA. The result is beautiful and unexpected.
